In order to record and update the statistics of tiger population in Valparai-Anamalai Tiger Sanctuary limits, cameras have been installed in the forest area, under the supervision of Subbaiah, District Forest Officer.

90 CCTV cameras in 45 locations were installed across this forest range.
Forest officials state that apart from tiger census and recording movement of wild animals, these cameras will be used to monitor other suspicious activities like 'Maoist' and 'poacher' movements.
Forest range officer, Sakthivel, Chandran, Sherif along with anti poaching officers supervised the installation of the cameras.
