The expansion of the Coimbatore-Pollachi road has been initiated and the mandatory felling of trees was underway. More than 1700 trees have to be cleared by the Highways department. Concerned volunteers with the support of higher officials and private organisations have been actively involved in saving as many trees as they can by transplanting. This re-location of trees that are currently planted on either side of the road is taking place at full pace. So far, more than 26 trees have re-located to different places in our city.
