Dimexon Diamonds Ltd, a company which manufactures diamond jewellery is located in Narasimanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore. A branch of this company is located at Kannampalayam near Sulur.
More than 300 women are working in the unit located in Kannampalayam. Recently, the factory management moved the unit to a new location. The workers from Kannampalayam unit were also asked to report to work at the new premise in Periyanaiackenpalayam unit. Claiming it as an unprecedented move, the employees were left in shock.
Following, which the employees approached the labour welfare office seeking a solution for the sudden shifting the company. They claimed in their petition that they have shifted their living to Kannampalayam to have a close proximity to the work place. But now that the unit has been shifted to PN Palayam, every day a travel of 30-35 kms is practically not possible for them. Hence, they have requested the labour welfare office that their plea should be taken into consideration and a peaceful resolution should be derived.
