Bharathiar University hosts its debut South Zone inter-university Kabaddi tournament for women

Physical education Department of Bharathiar University (BU) is hosting its debut South Zone inter-university Kabaddi tournament, exclusively for women from 14th - 17th December, 2016. About 54 teams from regions like Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Kerala, Karnataka, Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu are participating in this tournament.


The inaugural function of the Kabaddi tournament was hosted yesterday, 14th December, at the outdoor stadium at the BU campus. Arjuna Awardee and Indian Kabaddi player, P Ganesan, declared the tournament open and he motivated the sportsmanship spirit of the various teams with his speech.



Vice Chancellor of Bharathiar University, A. Ganpathy was also present during the inauguration of this tournament. Dr. K. Murugavel, Organising Secretary and Director of physical education, Bharathiar University welcomed the gathering. G. Kumaresan and B. Murugeshwari, Physical director, Tirupur Kumaran College for women are Joint Secretaries for this tournament. The former delivered the vote of thanks.
