'Makkal Nala Kootani is not permanent' says Thol Thirumavalavan

Thol Thirumavalavan, President of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party was here in the city to participate in party's meeting at Gudalur and Coonoor, Nilgris District.

This meeting was called for to discuss the uniform civil code proposed by the central government and the demonetization issue. When speaking to the press at the Coimbatore airport, Thirumavalavan stated that, “After the introduction of Rs.2,000 rupee denomination in place of banned Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 rupee notes has actually increased the value of black money two-fold. The public will be highly affected due to the privatization of Government and public limited companies'.

He added that “Communist party leaders will participate in the meeting that has been organized in Pondicherry. Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) which supports the prime ministers stand on this issue, however will not participate in this meeting”.

He also said “I have discussed the matter with Vaiko , however it will not affect our alliance. Thirumavalavan also affirmed that 'Makkal Nala Kootamaippu' was formed to work for the welfare of the people and during the time of elections it was changed into 'Makkal Nala Kootani' and anyways it is not a permanent union.”

'We will unite on the basis of the problems faced by the people. I have not got invitation for the all party protest which was called for by the DMK with regard to Jallikattu. The central government should give permission for Jallikattu in spite of the court orders. The uniform civil Sharia law is interfering with the rights of Muslims. To oppose the uniform civil code, I am participating in the meet in Gudalur' VCK leader said.
