Citizens’ Voice Club petition to TNEB

C. Jayaraman, President of Citizen's Voice club and V.A. Shanmuga secretary of the club have petitioned the EB officials on various demands. In the petition they have said that the electricity board should take enough precautionary measures and fix safety lines that lay beneath the power lines at important junctions. Cell phones towers should be installed at a distance from the power lines and the towers should be fitted with stay wires.

Electricity Board has introduced the system of collecting the consumer payments of bills by cheque, net banking. Cheques, standing instructions (ECS through the customer's banks accounts) remittance through Post offices should be popularised as the alternative payment methods. Electricity board should receive payments through credit or debit cards by installing POS card swiping machines at their payment centers.

The petitioners also stated that the electric posts should be given numbers individually and the emergency contact numbers on all the electricity poles to identify and inform the officials in case of emergency.
