The Corporation Officials are engaged in removing the encroachments on the Palakkad road near Mayilkkal area, as presently road expansion process is on at the same area. Two trees on the encroached site had to be removed from the site to facilitate expansion of the road. Hence, the officials informed the NGOs Osai and Pasumai Desam who are involved in re-locating the uprooted trees.
OSAI Syed along with Rajendran of NGO Pasumai Desam, visited the location with necessary arrangements for relocating the trees to a reserve site reterived by the Corporation. The vehicles for transporting the trees to Kovaipudhur were provided by the Coimbatore corporation. The site at Kovaipudhur was chosen as it had adequate water resources to sustain the trees to thrive well.
Speaking exclusively to SimpliCity Syed said, “After the successful relocation of the trees in Pollachi Road, the Corporation Officials have come up to discuss with us regarding the relocation of these trees. We are happy that the Corporation has extended it's support by arranging transportation to re-locate the trees. Through Joint efforts lot of trees in the city can be given lease of life rather turning them to pieces of wood'.
