Brain dead accident victim at KMCH gives lease of life to five.


T. Vijayakumar an accident victim, was admitted to city-based Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH), saved the life of five, as his family came ahead and donated his vital organs after he was declared brain dead.

Vijayakumar from Thoppampatti village in Coimbatore who is survived by his wife and two daughters was admitted in KMCH hospitals after he met with an accident and sustained severe head injuries. Despite critical treatment, Vijayakumar failed to respond to treatment and was declared brain dead yesterday, 27th December. His family members decided to donate his organs and informed the doctors at KMCH.

The doctor’s team at KMCH, harvested his liver, both kidneys and eyes today. Liver and both kidneys were transplanted to a in-patient at KMCH. His eyes were sent to another private hospital in the city.

The doctors appreciated the family members of Vijayakumar for their strong decision, which has now given lease of life to five people.
