It was a spine-chilling New Year morning for the people of Coonoor as a Bison (Indian Wild Gaur) visited the busy streets of Coonoor.
This morning an adult bison was spotted roaming at the Coonoor level crossing , within a brief span of time the animal entered the busy streets of Coonoor. Motorists and pedestrians stood standstill in shock for a moment as the bulky animal took it's own time to cross and graze the vegetation along the streets.
A couple of days back, the same bison was spotted at the level crossing. The residents of Coonoor are perturbed on the frequent visit of bisons into residential colonies and parks.They have requested the officials to take necessary steps to chase the bison back to the forest area, on priority.
It is to be evoked that in the month of October, 2016, a couple were brutally attacked by a bison at the Sims Park, Coonoor. Weighing a full-sized sedan, Bisons' are very dangerous and unpredictable. Before it could create any causalities, the forest officials should chase it back' said a resident.
