Department of Tamil, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women has joined hands with the Department of Indian Studies, University of Malaya, Malaysia to host a day-long international conference on ‘Aspects of Prosperous life in Tamil Literature’. This international conference will be hosted at the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women campus, tomorrow, 4 January.

Addressing the media ahead of this conference, Dr. P. R. Krishnakumar, Chancellor, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women said “Today's youth, start the journey of life even before they comprehend fully the nuances and minute details of life. Hence, when they face problems and difficulties, they are unable to rectify things and they find themselves in right corners. Thus, it has become the need of the hour to help the youth by making them analyze the aspects of prosperous life in Tamil literature so that they can learn their lessons from them and also find solutions for their problems.”
Seconding him was Dr. Premavathy Vijayan, Vice Chancellor, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, who added “Culture helps one to understand the way of the world and to bring about desirable changes in the way of life. The changes that are occurring with the progress of time are brought out in literature as literature is the mirror of life. Moreover, these literary works help future generations to understand life in its proper perspective through experiences shared.”
Dr. P. R. Krishnakumar will preside over the inaugural session of this conference, tomorrow. S.P. Velumani, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu from Thondamuthur constituency and cabinet minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development will deliver the inaugural address at this conference.
Dr. T.S.K. Meenakshisundaram, Managing Trustee, Avinashilingam Educational Trust Institutions will offer his felicitations. Dr S Kumaran, Department of Indian Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will deliver the keynote address and Dr. Premavathy Vijayan will deliver her address too.
Professors, academicians, students, research scholars from across the country are expected to participate in this day-long conference. About 160 research papers will be presented during the technical sessions at this conference tomorrow.
