S.P. Velumani, minister for Tamil Nadu Municipalities and Management department stated that Sasikala will decide on contesting from RK Nagar constituency after consulting with a team of senior leaders from the party. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) members are conducting a silent procession to observe the 30-day mourning of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha.
On behalf of the AIADMK in Coimbatore, a silent procession was held from Athupalam to Kurichi today. AIADMK members and loyalists paid floral tributes to J. Jayalalitha. They also took an oath expressing solidarity with the party leadership. When speaking to the press, following the tribute Minister S.P. Velumani said, “AIADMK which has 1.5-crores party members is having a majority in the state assembly. So the central government cannot intimidate the state government.”
When asked if Sasikala the party's general secretary will contest in the R.K. Nagar by-election he said, “Sasikala will decide about contesting the election after consulting the senior party leaders.” About thousand people participated in this silent procession.
