Tourism Department signs up with Bengaluru Football Club to promote its goal

The Karnataka Tourism Department and JSW Bengaluru Football Club Private Ltd (BFC) on Thursday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to promote Bengaluru as a footballing and tourist destination.

After signing an agreement, Minister of State for Tourism Priyank Kharge said the department envisaged football to be the key driver for developing Bengaluru as a sports tourist destination on the lines of Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester, and Munich, which are home to several football clubs.

BFC has a mission to place India on the footballing world map. The Tourism Department, along with BFC, will promote the city among the youth and sports fans.

Mr. Kharge said the MoU has been signed for six months on a pilot basis. BFC takes part in the international league as well as the Asian Football Club championship.

Parth Jindal, CEO, BFC, said, “This association between BFC and the Tourism Department is one that we are very exited about. We take great pride in the fact that we represent Karnataka and Bengaluru at the national and continental levels.”

Sunil Chhetri, a captain of BFC and the Indian National Team, said, “Bengaluru is comfortable to the city to live in. Karnataka is one State with many worlds.”
