Police arrest protestors who demand speedy completion of the railway overhead bridge

A railway overhead bridge has been under construction since a long time at SIHS colony near Singanallur in the city. However, following a case that was filed in the court, citing lack of road on one side of this bridge, the construction work of this railway overhead bridge came to a halt upon orders from the court.

It has been reported that this construction work was stopped about four years ago. Subsequently, the number of vehicles that use this road has increased and the road users are finding it difficult to use this stretch of the road.

Political parties and the public have conducted many protests in the past, putting pressure on the concerned authorities to ensure that this railway overhead bridge is completed. However, nothing has been done in this regard.

As part of the protests today, DMK, BJP, MDMK and many other party members conducted a protest by sitting before this half-constructed overhead bridge. The protestors also raised slogans condemning the Tamil Nadu government and the Coimbatore Corporation. Police arrested the protestors.
