Yet another Coimbatorean to be honored at the Oscars, for technical achievements.

It's celebration time for Coimbatore as yet another Coimbatorean will be honored at the Oscars this year, under technical achievements category. 

Coimbatore is well-known for it's out-standing contribution in the field of education, vouching this statement, two past students of this city winning Oscars under technical category for consecutive two years, is indeed a very proud moment to cherish. 

Following Cottalango Leon, an alumni of PSG College of technology who was conferred with the Academy Award for "the design, engineering and continuous development" of Sony Pictures Imageworks itView technology, a digital 3D film review software at the 2016 Oscars. 

And, this 2017 the Oscars will honour Kiran Bhat, a Coimbatorean, with the prestigious award under the same category as Leon's. 

Kiran Bhat an alumni of Stanes Anglo Indian School in Coimbatore, pursued his dual degree in mechanical and electrical and electronics engineering from BITS Pilani. 

Kiran's award-winning technology based on facial performance-capture system has been used in popular movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, Avengers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Warcraft, Star Wars Episode VII and Star Wars Rogue One. Kiran is the eight Indian to receive the prestigious Oscars.
