Comprehensive meeting on 'Smart City Project' implementation convened with officials of various departments.

A comprehensive meeting was convened at the Coimbatore Corporation office today to discuss on the 'Smart city Project'. Senior officials from the Smart city management team participated in the meeting. The meetings was head by PWC Davidar,, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (TUFIDCO) and Chairman, Smart City Limited. 

G.Prakash, Commissioner of Municipal Administration, Corporation Commissioner and Managing Director of Smart City Limited, Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Deputy Commissioner, P. Gandhimathi, Corporation Engineer Rajendran, representatives of voluntary organizations. executive engineers, assistant executive engineers and corporation officials participated in this meeting.



Speaking at the meeting, Vijayakarthikeyan, MD, Smart City Ltd, stated that 'The preliminary works pertaining to the smart city project will commence shortly. This meeting is convened to discuss on the upcoming activities to be carried out with regard to the smarty city project. As the first step towards the project, empowering government schools at all wards will be one of the primary goal of the project. A smart city i-hub Apps will be launched in due course, which will culminate all smart city activities and act as a platform for the people to access smart solutions. Advanced parking solutions is also one of the crucial part of the project, which aims at implementation of modified technology oriented parking solutions for the entire city.

Other than benches at bus terminus, more benches with be erected in the city to facilitate public to rest. Solar smart street benches, solar electric poles, sensor garbage bins (IOT), replacing plastic bags with jute bags and setting-up jute manufacturing units will be kicked-off during this preliminary phase.

The Kauvndampalyam dump-yard will be installed with solar panels. Nature parks, Medicinal Parks, Green space will also be created in the city. Smart poles will be one of the key feature of the project. Through erecting smart poles, LED lights, streetlights, functioning of CCTV cameras and traffic monitoring systems can be manged efficiently and cost-effectively' he said.

Post the meeting, PWC Davidar,, IAS, President, Smart City Project visited along with the officials to the Ukkadam lake bund and discussed with the officials on the pr-active measures taken to eliminate dumping wastes into the water body. The team also visited the Corporation auditorium at RS Puram, which is presently under renovation. The smart city model roads that were created in RS Puram were also reviewed during the visit.

During this meet, opinions and suggestions regarding the implementation of the projects that are lined-up for implementation were discussed in detail with the offcials of various departments, NGO's and representatives of various organisations.
