Athletes who are participating in the 77th national level athletic meet in Coimbatore, not provided with basic facilities

The 77th all India inter university athletic meet began today at the Nehru Stadium in Coimbatore. In the meet, which is organised by the Anna University 2605 athletes from 189 universities in India are expected to participate. 46 competitions including running, long jump, high jump and shot put are being hosted as part of this event.

The trials are currently being organised. The event will be conducted up to 15th January. Tamil Nadu state minister for higher education Anbalagan inaugurated this event today. The athletes who are participating in this meet have complained that the basic facilities have not been provided to them.

They share that toilets and drinking water facilities are not available in the stadium. The accommodation for the athletes has been arranged at a far off place from the stadium and this has put them under hardships, said the athletes. They also said there are no basic amenities at the place of stay as a result they are forced to rent rooms outside.
