The couple and their team have been working tirelessly for protecting stray animals and animal cruelty in the city. HAS is all set to celebrate their 10th year anniversary by host a fundraising musical concert at PSG College of Arts and Science on January 29th from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm. Padmashri, K.S.Chitra will be chief guest for the event.

At the press meet hosted today, Padmashri, K.S.Chitra addressed the press, she shared that 'Am an ardent animal lover and cannot withstand to any sort of cruelty meted on them'.
"It was dis-heartening to learn about the stray dog issue in Kerala. People insisting of killing these innocent animals should consider about of other options like sterilization or send them to shelter homes rather than killing them brutally. Dogs are very compassionate and courteous beings than human beings.
Incidents involving cruelty to these innocent animals is truly heart-breaking. When Mini and Madhu of 'HAS' approached me with this idea of rescuing and rehabilitating of these animals, I really couldn't say a 'no'. Through Ganamela, if an impact could be created amidst the people to be compassionate to these creatures, I would be very glad', said Chitra.
When questioned about her visits to Coimbatore, she shared a few of her past memories. 'I had been to this beautiful city before a few years back with Music Supremo Raja Sir and K.V.Mahadevan sir. It feels good to be back here, once again for a noble cause. The orchestra team will come from Kerala, all hit numbers from both Tamil and Malayalam movies will be played during the Ganamela event. Songs requested by the audience will also be played' said 'Chinna Kuyil' Chitra.
Mini Vasudevan, Managing Trustee of Humane Animal Society shared that "We are hoping Ganamela will be a big fund-raising event. Through the funds collected we are planning to implement continued care for animals. A part of funds raised through the event will be used for installing state-of-art technology at the Sanctuary located in Vazhukuparai, Coimbatore. This place is the home for 40 animals, part of these animals were abandoned by it's owners, few were injured by accidents and while others struck with illness. The sanctuary also provides boarding options, where people can leave their pets for brief periods while they are away on trips.
Another part of the funds will go towards creating environmental sustainability. A full-fledged clinic for the animals are also on the cards. An expert team of doctors will continually monitor the health and mental status of these animals. Presently, due to lack of in-house medical facility at the centre, for attending to any injuries or illness these animal has to be taken either to Namakkal or Thrissur for treatment. Still, the city of Coimbatore lacks state-of-art animal treatment facilities', Mini said.
'Human and animal welfare should go hand-in-hand. By understanding this, human-man conflicts could be certainly minimised. During the event, we have planned to show a documentary video on awareness campaigns conducted by the Humane animal society. Sure this fund-raising event, will help in bettering the lives of the animals and creating awareness to the humans on animals' said, Mini Vasudevan.
'Tickets ranging from Rs.250-.5000/- can be availed at Jenneys Club, Naturals Ayur, V's Cafe, Sai Baba Colony from 24th January, onwards. For online tickets, visit the facebook page of Human Animal Society' said the organizers.
