Take what you can eat and eat what you take, students of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women told at food awareness programme

An awareness programme on food wastage was organised yesterday Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women. Dr. K. Chitra, Principal of the college presided over the function and she talked about the difficulties faced by the farmers in cultivating and producing food. She insisted that the students should only take the food that they are able to eat.

Padmanaban Gopalan, Founder of No Food Waste Foundation and Edudharma.com was the chief guest for this event. In his speech, he educated the students on the amount of food that is being wasted and motivated the students not to waste food.

“A single grain of rice that is wasted cannot be regained. If excess amount of food is prepared, the same can be shared with those who cannot afford food. This will help in reducing the hunger of the needy people.” Padmanaban Gopalan said.

He urged the students to create awareness about not wasting food among their family, friends and neighbours and also urged them to make our society free from hunger and save the life of farmers.
