4th Go kart design and racing championship was conducted at the Kari Motor Speedway in Chettipalayam. This event is recognised by the Indian Era of Indian Engineers. In the competition, college students designed and raced in the karts.

According to the organisers the contest is formulated for enhancing the approach of students practicing engineering and diploma disciplines. Fundamentally it is all about designing and fabricating a go kart at minimal expenditure but not at the cost of performance. The teams should not seek help from helps while designing the karts. Each team shall have a maximum of twenty members. 44 teams were selected for participating in the finals.
When speaking to the press Umesh president of the organising committee said, “169 colleges from all over the country have participated in this event. After various inspections at various levels of the competition, 97 teams were selected to participate in the second round and 38 teams were selected to participate in the final. 20 teams are participating in the competition which was hosted today.”

“The competition is conducted to increase the number of participants in the motor racing, to create environment-friendly vehicles and to provide a platform for the students to display their skills and abilities. Prize money of Rs.3l-lakhs was distributed to the winners of the event in various categories.” he said.
