Former Coimbatore Mayor Malaravan calls it quits from AIADMK party, will join hands with Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa

T Malaravan, former mayor of Coimbatore and former district secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party has called it quits from the party, citing interference from Sasikala Natarajan and her family members in the functioning of the party.

When speaking to the press, this senior politician said, “I was in AIADMK, since its inception. The party which was led by MGR and Jayalalithaa has degraded now. Emboldened by Jayalalithaa’s death, the family of Sasikala is now claiming that they saved the party. Hence, I have decided to join the party started by Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa.”

“A family cannot save a party. The support of the party members and people are not with the party. The AIADMK party does not have the peoples’ support, as it once had during Jayalalithaa’s helm. Sasikala is shelling money to bring people to her meetings.”

People in the political circles have claimed that Malaravan has finally broken his silence. The formal resignation of Malaravan from this party has left the AIADMK members and loyalists surprised.
