Coimbatore: Babri Masjid demolition anniversary day is being observed today. Every year, various Muslim organisations and political parties have been protesting against the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992,.

As part of this, a massive protest was organised by SDPI at Ukkadam, which was led by its State vice-president Abdul Hameed. Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam general secretary K Ramakrishnan and Naam Tamilar Katchi cadres also participated in the protest.

SDPI state vice-president Abdul Hamid told reporters that the protest was being held to declare the Babri Masjid demoliton day "Anti-fascissm day "and the demanded the restoration of the demolished structure at Ayodhya.

"All secular governments across the country should raise their voice against the Union government in the Babri Masjid demolition and strive hard to achieve its restoration" Abdul Hameed said.

Speaking at the protest, TPDK leader Ramakrishnan said that the present Central Government and Sangh Parivar organisations are agitating by creating religious confusion in the country. Now they are in a self- congratulatory mode as India represented by its Prime Minister has been given the leadership of the G20 nations.

"Do we know who were the leaders of these G20 group of countries before?" Ramakrishnan asked and likened the situation to a Tamil proverb "if a cheap person gets good life, he will wield his umbrella 24 hours a day".

Alleging that the BJP is bent upon doing politics on the recent car bomb blast in Coimbatore he said it was foiled by the police, which could not be accepted by the BJP.

Ramakrishnan also demanded to know, why the same BjP has not raised an issue when the cooker blast blast had occured in the BJP-ruled state of Karnataka recently.

More than 500 people from various parties participated in the protest.
