BJP State Leader Annamalai Criticizes DMK's Upcoming Event in Coimbatore as Mere Publicity

BJP state leader Annamalai has criticized the upcoming DMK-led event in Coimbatore, calling it a publicity stunt. The event is scheduled for June 15 under the leadership of Chief Minister Stalin.

Coimbatore: In a recent statement, BJP state leader Annamalai has criticized the DMK's 'Mupperum Vizha' event, which is scheduled to take place on June 15 in Coimbatore under the leadership of Chief Minister Stalin. According to Annamalai, the event is merely an exercise in undue publicity without substantial benefit to the people.

The event, initially set for June 14, was postponed to avoid coinciding with the anniversary of former minister Senthil Balaji's arrest on financial fraud charges last year. This has raised concerns about the timing and motive behind the re-scheduling of such a significant event.

Furthermore, Annamalai highlighted several issues under the DMK government such as excessive electricity charges and failure to utilize funding for essential infrastructural developments like roads in the Smart City project. The local small and medium enterprises faced serious operational challenges due to these policies, adversely affecting the common people's livelihood.

The criticisms extend beyond just economic policies. Annamalai pointed out the longstanding promise in DMK's manifestos regarding the Athikadavu-Avinashi project, aimed at improving water sustainability in the region, which has seen no real progression. Meanwhile, environmental concerns grow as local rivers like Siruvani and Noyyal suffer neglect.

He emphasized that urgent attention is needed on essential civic amenities like road facilities and water scarcity solutions in Coimbatore. He accused the DMK of focusing on grandiose events at the expense of addressing the core issues faced by the residents.

These statements from the BJP leader have ignited discussions among the public concerning the true benefits of such political events and whether they serve the public good or are merely for show.
