Tamilnadu College of Engineering, through its Institute Innovation Council, conducted the Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 on 18.09.2026, with 73 teams participating. Students worked on themes including Agriculture, Health and Wellness, Waste Management, Energy, Transportation, Disaster Management, Education, Smart Automation, Water Management, FinTech, Robotics and Drones, Toys and Games, Heritage, Space Technology, Environment and Assistive Technology. Projects were evaluated by an external jury comprising Dr. K. Jagadeesh, Dr. V. Saranya and M. Mohan Kumar. Principal Dr. N. S. Sakthivel Murugan appreciated the mentors, while Dr. Anusha Ravi, CEO, Park Institutions, praised the initiative. The event was coordinated by G. Mona Jacqueline and R. Ponneela Vignesh.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 73 teams, with students from various disciplines coming together to work on real-world challenges and develop technology-oriented solutions.
The participating teams worked on diverse problem areas covering themes such as Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, Health and Wellness, Swachhata and Waste Management, Energy and Sustainability, Transportation and Mobility, Security and Disaster Management, Education and Skill Development, Smart Automation, Water Management, FinTech and Financial Inclusion, Robotics and Drones, Toys and Games, Culture, Tourism and Heritage, Space Technology, Environment and Climate Change, and Assistive Technology.
The projects were evaluated by an external jury comprising Dr. K. Jagadeesh, Dr. V. Saranya and M. Mohan Kumar. The jury members interacted with the participating teams and reviewed their ideas and presentations. Their expert observations and feedback provided valuable guidance to the students and helped them understand the importance of developing solutions that are technically feasible, socially relevant and capable of creating meaningful impact.
Principal Dr. N. S. Sakthivel Murugan appreciated the mentors from the various departments for their valuable coordination, continuous guidance and commitment towards encouraging students to participate in the hackathon.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Anusha Ravi, CEO, Park Institutions, said the initiative provides students an excellent platform to identify real-world challenges, develop innovative solutions, and demonstrate their technical, creative, and teamwork skills.
