Coimbatore: The Karpagam College of Engineering hosted a webinar titled 'An Insight into Career Opportunities in Mechanical Engineering to KCEians by KCEians' on February 17 and 18th February.
85 students from B.E Mechanical second year participated in the two-day online webinar. There were a total of four sessions held in the webinar, and the guest speakers for Session 1 and 2 were Dr. Vaira Vignesh R (Class of 2015), Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, Coimbatore and Dr. Johnson Santhosh (Class of 2008), Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, JIMMA University.
The guest speakers for Session 3 and 4 were Dr. Magibalan S (Class of 2012), Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Nandha Engineering College, Erode and Dr. Jidesh P (Class of 2011) Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore. The convener for the event was Dr. C Krishnaraj, Head of Mechanical Department and coordinated by R Sathish and V V Arun Sankar, Assistant Professors, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The guests elaborated on the Role of Engineering Metallurgy, Strength of Materials and its industrial applications, Kinematics of Machinery and its industrial applications and Applications of Thermal Engineering. They focused more on the scope of engineering in various industries, industrial expectations, and how to prepare ourselves to be industry-ready.
In the highly informative and Interactive two-day session, the chief guests also answered various queries raised by the participants.
