Coimbatore: Singapore-based photographer Raj Bharathi inaugurated the photo exhibition held at PSG College in Coimbatore.
The Department of Visual Communication, PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, organized a colours photo exhibition on March 31. The event, which was presided over by college principal D Brinda, was presided over by college vice-principal Anguraj.
Singapore-based macro photographer Raj Bharati was the chief guest at the function and inaugurated the photo exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Macro photography is the recording of very small insects and flowers in photographs. It was my passion for photography from an early age that brought me to this field.
Currently, I am working on photographing and documenting small insects in the forests of Singapore and Malaysia. As part of my work, I photographed insect species living in the Western Ghats in Coimbatore. At that time, I discovered and recorded a new type of spider called the "Jumping Spider" that had not yet been discovered by scientists.
Thus I am very interested in finding insect species that the world does not know. His photographic journey started from his cell phone. Since the photos I took were published in the media in Singapore, yhe country's tourism department called me and requested me to document the insect species in the forests of Singapore.
I continue to do this work to this day. So far, I have discovered two new species of insects in Singapore. Insect species are very important to protect the forests. If you look very closely at the insect species, you will be able to discover a variety of amazing things.
The earth would live better without humans. But the reality is that without insects or birds, the earth cannot live. Such macro photographs are essential to tell this truth out loud to the world. “
Artist Madhu Kannan participated in the function as another special guest. Photographs taken by visual communication department students were featured at the exhibition.
