Coimbatore: Isha in Coimbatore organised a two-day free multidisciplinary medical camp that benefited more than 600 villagers, including tribals.
The camps were conducted under the ‘Arogya Alai’ campaign of Isha Rural Rejuvenation which aims to provide quality medical services to the rural poor. The campaign has been facilitating free medical camps in Coimbatore district in collaboration with leading hospitals.

The multidisciplinary free medical camp was held on December 4 at the Government Higher Secondary School, Madhavarayapuram and on December 5 at Isha Village Hospital, Alandurai. Locals from various villages, including Alandurai, Semmedu, Iruttupallam, Madakaadu, Thondamuthur, Pooluvapatti, Thombilipalayam underwent free medical examination. Specialist doctors of the camp offered medical advice on issues related to the heart, eye, ear, nose, throat, stomach, skin, dental, nervous system, and also women and children health.
43 patients were diagnosed with cataracts and treated free of charge at the Arvind Eye Hospital. As a major draw, the camp offered free-of-cost 'echo' test for cardiac patients, cervical test for women, breast cancer diagnostic tests and hearing tests. All medicines were provided free of cost.
The two-day medical camp was organized in collaboration with Coimbatore Aravind Eye Hospital, Velliangiri FPO, Ganga Hospital and Coimbatore Rotary Metropolis Association.
