The 9th edition of the Coimbatore Vizha is celebrated in Coimbatore with the theme Vaanga Kondadalaam. As a part of this, KV Institute of Management and Information Studies organised State Level Kabaddi Tournament for men on 2 February.
Kabaddi is often seen as one of the ancient wrestling sport. Actually, it can be called a wrestling sport, with plenty of other aspects involved. The word Kabaddi has come from a Tamil word, Kai-pidi which means “holding hands”. Kabaddi is popular not only in India but it is a National Game of Bangladesh as well. Most of the Indian states do play this game, but it is far more popular in the villages of Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

In this event that was hosted as a part of the Coimbatore Vizha, the youth who were 20-25 years old were eligible to participate. Nearly 150 students from 25 various reputed institutions like Government College of Technology, Periyar University Constituent College, CMS College of Science and Commerce, Sri Krishna College of Technology, Shakthi College of Engineering and Technology, Bishop Appasamy College, Sankara College of Science and Commerce , VHNSN College, Jairuppa Engineering College, RVS College of Engineering participated in the Kabaddi Tournament.
Pradeep , Managing Director of General Electricals, Member of Young Indians and Dr.C.Kumar Managing Director, KV Institute of Management Studies was the Chief guest Dr. M. Vidhya , Principal was also present.
N.Dhandapani, District Secretary, Tamil Nadu Amateur Kabaddi Association, Govind, All India referee for Kabaddi and Pradeep , Managing Director of General Electricals, Member of Young Indians motivated the participants and handed over the trophy to winners of the event CMS College of Science and Commerce, and the runners Sankara College of Science and Commerce, of the Kabaddi Tournament.
