At the end of the condolence meeting for Kaveriammal, an ardent worker of the Periyar Movement, the female members of the family became the pallbearers and carried the body of the deceased veteran to hand over to the Coimbatore Government Medical College authorities.

Breaking all superstitious rituals and doing away with traditional mindsets, a 82-year old woman who was an ardent worker in the Periyar movement died due to old age and her body was borne by women pallbearers after a condolence meeting.
K S Nagarasan is a native of Kaliyappa Goundan Pudur near Pollachi. He has been the State Organising Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Tamil Forum. His mother Kaveriammal (82) who was an ardent worker of the Periyar Movement died due to old age. All the parties joined in to pay their last respects to the Periyar Movement veteran.
This was followed by a condolence meeting at the residence in Kaliyappa Goundan Pudur. DMK's Chief Office-bearer, Pollachi Umapathy, Public Prosecutor Vijayaraghavan, Adi Thamizhar Peravai Gopal, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna leader Marimuthu, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam functionary Jaffna Velliangiri, Dravidar Kazhagam functionary Chittarasu and other party functionaries participated in the condolence meeting.

It is noteworthy that when her husband Subramaniam had died too, his body was donated to the students of the Coimbatore Government Medical College, for research.
