Coimbatore car blast case: Afsar Khan remanded to 14-day judicial custody

Afsar Khan, who was arrested on Thursday night is the sixth member in the Coimbatore car cyliner blast case and was produced before JM5 Judge Santhosh. The judge who heard the case remanded Afsar Khan to judicial custody for 14 days till November 10.


Coimbatore: Afsar Khan who was arrested on Thursday night is the sixth person to have been arrested in connection with the car blast in front of the Eswaran temple in Coimbatore. He has been remanded to a 14-day judicial custody by the judge.



Five people have already been arrested and jailed under the UAPA Act in connection with the car cylinder blast that has created panic in Coimbatore. The Court has now granted three-day judicial custody of the five accused.



Afsar Khan who was arrested on Thursday night was brought to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for examination on Friday morning. Following this, he was produced before Judge Santhosh who heard the case and remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days till November 10. The police then took Afsar Khan to the Coimbatore Central Jail.



Moreover, since the case is to be completely transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), it is to be noted that the Tamil Nadu Police Chief, C Sylendra Babu had earlier stated in Coimbatore that the Tamil Nadu Police is in the process of handing over the documents related to the case to the NIA officials.
