To mark the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel known as 'National Unity Day,' Government officials led by the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran took the oath at the Public Grievances Redressal Camp held at the Collectorate in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who was known as the Iron Man of India was commemorated on Monday, October 31. The Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran led Government officials in taking the oath at the Public Grievances Redressal Camp, held at the District Collectorate in Coimbatore.
Vallabhbhai Patel who was Independent India's first Home Minister hailed from Gujarat and annexed more than 550 princely states to India after Independence. It was Vallabhbhai Patel who persuaded the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Nawab of Junagadh (Gujarat) who had refused to join till the very end, to finally join India. His birth anniversary is celebrated annually as 'National Unity Day.'

Coimbatore District Revenue Officer Leela Alex, the District Collector's Personal Assistant Kokila and Government officials from all Departments participated in the meeting.
