Family trapped in wall collapse in Coonoor's Rajaji Nagar area rescued

A family that was trapped in the collapse of a retaining wall in Rajaji Nagar area of Coonoor in Nilgiris was rescued by the fire brigade after two hours of struggle.



The Nilgiris: Sharmila, Salam Ullah and Ubayatullah live in Rajaji Nagar area of Coonoor in the Nilgiris district.

On Thursday, an old retaining wall collapsed in their residential area. Sami Mulla's house was damaged and three persons — Sharmila, Salam Ullah and Udayatullah — were trapped inside the house.



The Fire Department was informed about the incident and along with the Revenue Department, Coonoor Municipality staff and social welfare organisations rushed to the spot and engaged in the rescue operation for two hours.



Fire officials said that since the door of the house was closed due to stones falling over the house, the three inside could not come out but no one was hurt.
