Filmmakers R K Selvamani and R V Udhayakumar arrived in Tirupur's Iduvampalayam area to collect soil for building memorial walls of Indian freedom fighters which will be erected at 75 places in the country. This initiative is to commemorate the sacrifice and honour the memory of 1,040 freedom fighters who participated in the Indian freedom struggle.
Tirupur: Memorial walls of Indian freedom fighters are to be erected at 75 places in the country to commemorate the sacrifice and honour the memory of 1,040 freedom fighters who participated in the Indian freedom struggle. Home soil from each place that the freedom fighters belonged to is being gathered to erect these walls.
As part of this initiative, the 'Thaimann Yatrai' is being organised by the Tamil Nadu Film Directors' Association and the Chakra Vision India Foundation to collect home soil from the villages of freedom fighters in Tamil Nadu.

Film directors R K Selvamani, R V Udhayakumar, Perarasu, Lingusamy and others who visited the Ponkali Mudaliar Memorial at Iduvampalayam in Tirupur paid floral tributes to the portrait of 'Pongali Mudaliar.'

Thereafter, the Directors went to his hometown Iduvampalayam to collect the soil.

Earlier, the Directors who arrived at Iduvampalayam were given a rousing reception by the public who were excited to see film directors visit Iduvampalayam.
