TPDK's General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan has announced that he will stage a protest in front of the Income Tax office in Coimbatore on November 16, demanding that the Income Tax limit be fixed at Rs. 8 lakh for all.
Coimbatore: The Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan held a press conference at Gandhipuram in Coimbatore on Friday.

Speaking at the press conference, K Ramakrishnan said, "The criteria for the upper caste poor has been fixed at Rs. 8 lakh per annum. However, the Income Tax Department has fixed the income tax payable limit of Rs. 5 lakh for the Union Government.

If those earning Rs. 8 lakh a year are poor, then those earning Rs. 5 lakh should be declared as the poorest. The income tax limit should be fixed at Rs. 8 lakh for all.

We will stage a protest in front of the Income Tax office in Chennai and Coimbatore on Nov. 16," he added.
