Sandalwood tree in Coimbatore Central Jail premises cut and smuggled

The Race Course Police are investigating a complaint lodged by jailor Sivarajan in connection with the cutting and smuggling of a sandalwood tree from the Coimbatore Central Jail premises.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Central Jail is located in the central part of Coimbatore city. Thousands of prisoners are lodged here. The residences of officials and staff working in the jail are located in the same premises.

Jailor Sivarajan of Coimbatore Central Jail who was on surveillance duty in the jail premises along with other police officials was shocked when he discovered that a sandalwood tree in the jail premises had been cut down. He immediately lodged a complaint with the Race Course police station and based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and are investigating.
