Thangaraj, emerged as the champion in the district level carrom tournament that was organised by Coimbatore District Carrom Association in partnership with Friends Carrom Club. The three-day tournament was hosted at the Sengappa Konar Thirumana Mandapam. About 162 participants played in the singles events and 56 teams participated in the team event.
In the final, Thangaraj of Tamilan Carrom Training Center who won a not so tough game against Sundar from Tiyagi Chinnasany Training Center with a score of 25-1, 25-2 and emerged the champion. Sundar and Marudhachalam won the team event. Akarshan won the title in the junior category while Devaraj won the championship in the senior category. Arima Karunanaidhi who was the Chief Guest for the valedictory ceremony distributed prizes to the winners.
Yuvaraj, Chairman of Coimbatore District Carrom Association, President Gunasekaran, Secretary Thangakumar, Treasurer Baskaran, Deputy Presidents Ramalingam, Balu among other officials participated in the prize distribution ceremony.
