Student unable to appear for TNPSC Group-1 exam in Coimbatore; Delay in arriving at exam center due to non-updation of location on Google Maps

Aishwarya, a student from Vadavalli, who was searching for the examination centre in Peelamedu area on Google Maps returned home with tears since she was denied permission for the exam due to a delay of five minutes.

Coimbatore: The TNPSC Group-I exam was held across Tamil Nadu on Saturday. A total of 49 centres have been set up in Coimbatore district and arrangements have been made for the exam. In Coimbatore district alone, more than 15,000 candidates had applied to appear for the exam.

The National Model School at Peelamedu in Coimbatore had also set up a Group-I exam centre on Saturday. The examiners were present in 45 rooms.

Aishwarya, a native of Vadavalli in Coimbatore who was to appear at the Group 1 exam, looked at Google Maps on her mobile phone for the location of the Center but could not find the location.

In the meantime, she was denied permission to appear for the exam since she was five minutes late at the National Model School exam center after a long search. "I have been preparing for this exam since 2019. My life is now in question due to the school management failing to update the location on Google Maps," lamented Aishwarya.

Similarly, it is reported that more than 20 students were turned back and not allowed to appear for the exam since they were late. It may be noted that a large number of students in various districts across Tamil Nadu had staged a road blockade as they were not allowed to appear for the exam for being late during the Group 4 examination held a few months ago.
