6 two-wheelers parked in front of apartment in city's Villankurichi area catch fire causing panic among locals

Six two-wheelers in the parking lot of Sheela Apartments in Coimbatore's Villankurichi area caught fire at around 4 am on Tuesday triggering panic in the area.



Coimbatore: In the parking lot of Sheela Apartments in Villankurichi, in Coimbatore district, six two-wheelers caught fire in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Shocked residents immediately informed the Fire Department officials who rushed to the spot and fought for a long time to bring the fire under control.

Kovilpalayam police also reached the spot and conducted an investigation to ascertain if the two-wheelers were set on fire, or if it was a fire accident. Following this, the Forensic Department was called to the spot and clues were collected, followed by an investigation.

Investigations have revealed that the fire may have spread to nearby vehicles due to an electrical leakage from the battery of a two-wheeler. The fire broke out in the wee hours of the morning causing panic in the residents of the apartment as well as people in the area.
