Special Skill Development Centre opened in Ooty for Nilgiris District Police

The skill development centre was inaugurated by Inspector General of Police (West) Sudhakar. It has been launched not only for skill development of police but also for the training of their family members.



The Nilgiris: A special skill development centre was opened at Ooty for police personnel and officers working in the Nilgiris district police department.



In order to enable the police personnel to hone their skills in the investigation, books on law, books on forensic and cyber crimes, and also for training them to appear for competitive examinations for higher posts have been kept in the centre.

The skill development centre was inaugurated by IG (Western Range) Sudhakar. The centre has been established not only for the capacity building of the police personnel but also to improve the capacity of the family members of the police personnel. A counselling hall and a social media analytics lab have been opened here for the police to interact with the police with those who have mastered various fields.



Speaking on the skill development centre, Western Range IG Sudhakar said, “forensic and analysis centre on cyber crimes has been set up in the Nilgiris district. Already the cyber crime police unit in the Nilgiris district did not have some necessary software so far. But now, for the first time in the western region, new software called sentimental analysis has been launched in the Nilgiris district.”

He said that it is easy to detect any controversial comments made by someone on social media if they are causing tension. He said that in today's time, there are many issues related to cyber crime incidents in one way or the other.



IG Sudhakar noted that as far as the western zone is concerned, Rs 3 crore in cash has been seized by freezing bank accounts and disbursed to the complainants in the crimes related to cyber complaints in the Nilgiris district.

He also said that no one should be accommodated in hotels and lodges without identity cards. Is the mobile number given by those who come to the hotels in use? The owners have also been instructed to check that, he said. Ig Sudharan said a new force called Omega-3 with modern weapons has been launched in the Nilgiris district and the state borders are being closely monitored.
