Tiruppur: In commemoration of the 105th anniversary of November Revolution Day, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tirupur district organised a red-flag rally and a public meeting, led by CPI(M) Politburo member, Brinda Karat.

The rally which started from the CPI (M)'s District Committee office in Tirupur's Kumar Nagar area, passed through Pushpa Roundabout, Railway Overbridge, Kumaran Road and culminated at Union Mill Road where the public meeting was held.

Speaking at the public meeting, Politburo member Brinda Karat said, "The Tirupur industry is an example which highlights the wrong policies of the Central Government. Tens of thousands of hosiery companies have been shut down due to the wrong policies of the Government and lakhs of workers have been affected. The whole of India is facing a huge challenge. But we are happy to be in the DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu which continues to raise its voice against the wrong policies of the BJP-RSS.

The State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has brought to the notice of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin about the impact of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on account of the hike in electricity tariff in Tamil Nadu. We hope that the Tamil Nadu Government will fulfil the legitimate demand of the CPI (M) to roll back the power tariff hike at the earliest.

The BJP-led Central Government is a government for corporates. In the last five years, it has written off Rs. 10 lakh crores of bad loans given to corporates and is easily disbursing loans to them. We are facing a huge challenge. Nevertheless, the Communists are fighting with confidence to create a New India," concluded Brinda Karat.

The public meeting was attended by Coimbatore MP P R Natarajan and a large number of people.
