Coimbatore: The Corporation Commissioner inspected the work of segregating and collecting biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste in Velandipalayam and Thavasi Nagar areas under ward number 42 of Coimbatore West zone.

He also instructed the sanitation workers to create awareness among the public in the area to classify the garbage into biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.

Following this, dengue mosquito eradication workers in the same areas go door-to-door and pour abate into the tanks.

The Municipal Corporation Commissioner inspected the work of removing unwanted items and checking whether the public is involved in the presence of mosquito larvae in the stored water.

He then inspected the construction of toilets in Kovilmedu Higher Secondary School premises at Velandipalayam at a cost of Rs.22.50 lakhs under Namakku Naame Scheme and directed the officials to complete the works expeditiously and qualitatively and put it to use at the earliest.

Corporation Commissioner Prathap, who inspected Kovilmedu Sastri Nagar, conducted a survey of the areas and directed the officials to remove the encroachments immediately.

Later, the Commissioner inspected the Classical Language Park in Thavasi Nagar area and instructed to maintain the park clean.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prathap also directed the officials to inspect the storm water drains in the Thavasi Nagar area, desilt them and put them to use.
West Zone President Deivapanai Thamizh Marai, Assistant Commissioner Sekar, Councillor PraveenRaj, Assistant Executive Engineer, Regional Health Officer, Assistant Engineers, Health Inspector and Corporation officials were present during the inspection.
