As a major fire broke out at a privately-owned cotton mill at Poomalur near Palladam cotton bags and other materails were gutted. Fire tedners rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.



Tiruppur :A major fire broke out at a privately-owned cotton mill at Poomalur Vannathottam near Palladam in which cotton bags and other materails worth about few lakhs were gutted.



On receiving information, fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.



A JCB was also used in the operation. Shameem, the owner of the waste cotton mill hails from Mangalam near Palladam in Tiruppur district. His mill has been functioning in Poomalur Vannanthottam area. More than 50 workers including migrant workers have been working at the mill.



The fire broke out on Thrusday night, when some of the workers were on duty. It quickly spread to the stacked cotton bags forcing the workers to evacuate from the place.



Cotton bags, furniture and other mateirals worth about few lakhs have been completely gutted in the fire. The police are investigating from various angles to find out cause of the fire, including electrical short circuit.
