Miscreants attack two youth with sickle and decamp with mobile and Rs.3000 cash near Gandhipuram

Two engineering graduates, who had come to Coimbatore from Panruti to attend an employment camp were intercepted by four miscreants who attacked them with sickles and robbed their mobile phones and Rs.3,000 in cash.



Coimbatore: Unidentified miscreants attacked Bhupathi (22) and Veerapandi (24), both engineering graduates from Panruti in Cuddalore, at around midnight near Gandhipuram and relieved them of Rs.3000 cash and their mobile phones.

According to Police, the two youth had been attacked near Gandhipuram bus stand at around mid night 1.15 pm, when they went by walk to Avarampalayam to meet their friend after getting down from bus. The arrived at the city to attend a job fair to be held at Saravanampatti in a private college.

When the twosome were walking their way to their friend's place, a group of four people had appeared near a private hospital on Bharathiar Road andblocked their way before attacking them with sickles. They took away their mobile phone and Rs.3000 in cash.

The injured duo had been rescued by a passersby, who got them admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Kattoor crime branch police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the miscreants involved in the road-side robbery.

The incident has created panic among the people of Avarampalayam area.
