Police arrest two youth for looting idols from dance school in Coimbatore's Sundarapuram area

In the case regarding idols being stolen from a private dance school near Sundarapuram, the police arrested two youth, Karthik (25) and Kiran (22) based on CCTV footage and lodged them in jail.


Coimbatore: Murali (50), a resident of Sengappa Konar Street in Sundarapuram, Coimbatore who runs a dance school in the same area had locked his school on Saturday, as usual after dance classes.

On Saturday night, miscreants broke open the door of the dance school and stole many idols and lamps.



The Kuniyamuthur police who were examining the CCTV footage of the theft, registered a case and a thorough investigation is underway on the orders of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Raghupathi Raja. In the CCTV footage of the area, two unidentified persons were seen carrying the idols in a bag.

Following this, the police were on the lookout and based on the CCTC footage evidence, the police arrested Karthik (25) and Kiran (22), both residents of Arumuga Gounder Street in Machampalayam in Sundarapuram.

During investigation, it was revealed that the two had stolen the idols to buy additional liquor bottles, while in an inebriated state. Following this, the police arrested the duo and seized the idols from their possession and produced them in Court, after which they were lodged in jail.
