Goondas Act slapped on one more in Coimbatore beauty parlour employee's murder case

Prabhu, who was working at a beauty parlour on Crosscut Road was hacked to death and was cut into 12 pieces. While one of the three accused has already been arrested under the Goondas Act, the same has also been invoked against another accused, Karthik.

Coimbatore: Prabhu (39), a native of Soorampatti in Erode district worked as an employee at a beauty parlour on Crosscut Road in Coimbatore. He was residing in the house of Kavitha who runs a beauty parlour in Saravanampatti.

While Kavitha and Prabhu were reported to be close to each other, Kavitha seems to have also been in touch with two other men, Diwakar and Karthik. This caused arguments between Prabhu and Kavitha, and Prabhu reportedly threatened Kavitha saying that he would release their pornographic films.

Kavitha who had planned to kill Prabhu reportedly enlisted the help of Diwakar and Karthik, and on September 14, both men murdered Prabhu. They cut Prabhu's body into 12 pieces and dumped them in a garbage bin and a well. Kavitha, Diwakar and Karthik were arrested by the Special Cell police in connection with Prabhu's murder and sent to jail.

Diwakar, one of the arrested was already involved in various criminal activities and hence the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan recommended to the Coimbatore District Collector that he should be arrested under the Goondas Act, which was complied with a few days ago.

V Badrinarayanan also recommended that the Goondas Act be slapped on Karthik since he was also involved in various activities. Based on the recommendation, the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran issued an order to arrest the other accused also under the Goondas Act. A copy of the order for being arrested under the Goondas Act has also been handed over to Karthik in jail.
