Nilgiris Collector inspects development works in district done at estimated cost of Rs.89.82 lakhs

Collector S P Amrith inspected the work of composting works in the building constructed at a cost of Rs.27.25 lakhs under the micro-composting centre scheme. Subsequently, he personally inspected the newly-constructed Anganwadi Centre building at Maharimara Hatti at an estimated cost of Rs.16.07 lakhs under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at a total cost of Rs.89.82 lakhs.



The Nilgiris: The Nilgiris District Collector, S P Amrith inspected the completed development projects in Nilgiris district which have been completed at an estimated cost of Rs.89.82 lakhs.

The Rural Development Agency Department in Nilgiris district provides basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, roads, toilets etc. for the needs of people in the four Panchayat Unions of Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri and Gudalur. Accordingly, the road works at Chinna Bikkatty in Upathalai Panchayat, Coonoor Panchayat Union was completed at an estimated cost of Rs.46.50 lakh under the Tamil Nadu Rural Road Development Programme.



District Collector S P Amrith inspected the work of composting works in the building constructed at a cost of Rs.27.25 lakhs under the micro-composting centre scheme in the pit areas of the same Panchayat. Subsequently, he personally inspected the newly-constructed Anganwadi Centre building at Maharimara Hatti at an estimated cost of Rs.16.07 lakhs under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at a total cost of Rs.89.82 lakhs.



Subsequently, the NIlgiris Collector also inspected the construction of a footpath at Periya Upathalai area at an estimated cost of Rs.3 lakhs under the All India Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam. He inspected the production of plants such as lemon, sapota, guava, grapes, siddha, pomegranate etc., by the staff of the Horticulture Nursery at a cost of Rs.9.05 lakhs under the MGNREGS at Paraikuzhi area.

He also inspected the construction of the Anganwadi Centre under the All India Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam in Palathottam area of Upathalai Panchayat built at an estimated cost of Rs.17.00 lakhs.The District Collector directed the officials of the concerned departments to monitor the ongoing development works in these areas at a total cost of Rs.29.05 lakhs and complete them expeditiously and qualitatively to make them available to the public.

During the inspection, Women's Programme (Project Director) Balaganesh, District Rural Development Agency Executive Engineer Sujatha, Coonoor Block Development Officers Jaishankar, Mohan Kumaramangalam, Upathalai Panchayat President Bhagyalakshmi Chidambaram, Assistant Executive Engineers and other Government Department officials participated in the inspection.
