Residents petition VAO against felling of 'Sarakondrai' tree on the roadside near Kuniyamuthur

The residents of Kuniyamuthur, who intervened and stopped the felling of a Sarakondrai tree ( Golden Shower tree) on the road side on the Kuniyamuthur-Sundarapuram link road, submitted a petition to the VAO and the Police demanding immediate action against those who felled the tree.


Coimbatore: An Apollo dispensary is functioning on the Kuniyamuthur to Sundarapuram link road in Kuniyamuthur village of Coimbatore district.



Near this dispensary, there was a 10- year old Sara kondri tree. Allegedly, one person identified as a North Indian tried to axe the tree.. This was stopped by the members of the public and they also promptly informed the revenue officials.

A petition was also submitted to the Kuniyamuthur Village Administrative Officer (VAO) and the Kuniyamuthur Police Inspector.

The members of public demanded that the person, who indulged in cutting a public property was duly punished.
