On the occasion of Actor Rajinikanth's birthday, the fan clubs in Coimbatore have performed special poojas at various temples in the city. They burst crackers, distributed sweets to the public and also made underprivileged children watch "Baba" film.
Coimbatore: Actor Rajinikanth's birthday is being celebrated with much fanfare by his fandom across Tamil Nadu today.
On behalf of the Coimbatore district headquarters Rajinikanth Fan club, its office bearers have been celebrating the Super star's birthday for the past three days.
On Friday, fans led by District functionary Sathyamoorthy burst crackers in front of the theatres in Coimbatore where the film "Baba" has been released. On Sunday over 200 orphaned children and 200 fans were taken to watch Rajini's film "Baba".
On Rajinikanth's birthday today, special abishegams and and poojas were performed at Anjaneya Swamy Raghavendra Temple on Sullivan Street praying for actor Rajinikanth's long life.
Various homams including Ganapathi Homam, Sudarshana Homam, Dhanvantri Homam were also chanted on the occassion.
Following this, crackers were burst in front of the temple and sweets were distributed to the public.
In the evening, devotees offered 108 coconuts and prayers at the R.S. Puram Rathna Vinayagar Temple. Later, they performed "Sankabhishekam" at Kottai Easwaran Sangameswarar temple.
The fans of the stylish actor purchased 73 kg of sweets and distributed them to the devotees and the general public.
On the occasion of Rajinikanth's birth day celebrations, Rajini fans Charitable Trust District functionary Sathyamoorthy presided over the function held in Coimbatore, which was attended by office-bearers Babu, Pattanam Ravi, Premnath, Manivannan, Vadivel, Velliangiri, Senthilkumar, Rajesh Kumar, Ananda Krishnasamy, Chelladurai, Rajini Kannan, Sivakumar, Prabhu, Balaji, Aarusamy, Chanavas, Sudhakar, Shan Pasha, Auto Babu, Auto Manohar, Murugesan, Muthu and others.
