Coimbatore: Even as a series of suicides took place in Tamil Nadu due to loss incurred through online rummy, a youth in Coimbatore district too ended his life by suicide after losing money that he had borrowed to play online rummy.
Therefore, various organisations and political parties have been continuously demanding a ban on the game. Demonstrations and protests are also being held at various places across the State. The Tamil Nadu Government has responded to the demands saying that the Governor has not signed to ban online rummy in the State.
The Coimbatore Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists, led by District Secretary Arjun, arrived at the post office near the Coimbatore District Collectorate to send a letter to the Prime Minister seeking the withdrawal of the Tamil Nadu Governor for not giving his assent to the online rummy ban law.
