Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran felicitated the winners of the District-Level Arts Festival competitions organized by the School Education Department, by presenting them with certificates of appreciation and medals.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran presented certificates of appreciation and medals to the winners of the District-Level Arts Festival competitions organized by the School Education Department at Kikani Higher Secondary School Auditorium in Coimbatore on Saturday.
On behalf of the School Education Department, 178 competitions including elocution, story writing, essay writing, Thirukkural recitation, recitation of songs, painting, solo dance, group dance, Oyilattam, Thevarattam, Gummiyattam, cartoon drawing, folk dance, literary drama, social drama, instrumentals were conducted. A total of 7966 students from 428 schools participated in these competitions. A total of 1899 students secured the first, second and third positions in these competitions.

The Coimbatore District Collector and the CCMC Commissioner enthusiastically watched and cheered the students on during all the cultural programs.

The District Collector distributed prizes and certificates to all the successful students.

In particular, the Collector encouraged a differentyl - abled student, Nirmal Kumar, with a prize and a certificate appreciating his dance and self-confidence. Nirmal Kumar is a Class 7 student at the Pudur Panchayat Union Middle School, Thondamuthur block, who is incapacitated in his limbs.
