Tirupur: Police arrested Sivasubramaniyam and Abhimanyu of Kottapalayam for murdering a farmer Sampath Kumar and disposing of his body in a stream.

Subramani hails from Manthipalayam near Palladam in the Tirupur district. He lived with his wife Parimala and son Sampath Kumar (42). Their son Sampath Kumar was engaged in farming and was a bachelor.

Police said, that Sampath Kumar, along with some of his friends, returned home in November last after visiting various places including Munnar in Kerala. Later, on the night of November 30, he left to meet his friends. But he did not return home.

Meanwhile, Sampath Kumar's parents had lodged a complaint at the Kamanaickenpalayam police station, following which Kamanaickenpalayam police took up an investigation.

Police investigations revealed Sampath Kumar and his friends Sivasubramanian alias Mottumani and Abhimanyu had consumed liquor on the fateful day. Sivasubramaniyam alias Mottumani claimed that he had taken a loan of Rs 9,000 from Sampathkumar and since he did not repay it, Sampath Kumar took away his Excel Superbike.

Later, when Sivasubramaniyam returned Rs 9,000 to Sampath Kumar online and asked to return his bike, Sampath Kumar had allegedly refused to do so.

Following a quarrel over this, Sivasubramaniyam hit Sampath Kumar with a pole due to which Sampath Kumar died on the spot. Following this, Sivasubramaniyam and Abhimanyu tied Sampath Kumar's hands and legs and disposed of the body in a nearby PAP canal.

The arrested duo were produced in court and remanded in custody.
